The LA County Board of Supervisors is meeting at 9:30 a.m., and they are scheduled to take up a discussion of policies related to data centers, as well as the recent proposed federal rule to change how people are counted in the U.S. Census that includes no longer counting of the immigrants residing here. The National League of Cities published a background on the proposed rule, and you can read it here in the Federal Register. Supervisor Holly Mitchell has requested postponement of an item on artificial intelligence that was scheduled on this agenda.

Mayor Bass provides parallel statements to Trump’s call for a foreign government to attack LA – one serious, the other short and sweet
Mayor Karen Bass issued a couple of statements on Monday, in reaction to President Donald Trump calling on Iran to attack Los Angeles, as well as San Diego. From her office account, she provided a sober response to Trump’s statements, saying that “his statements against our city are dangerous and could potentially compromise our safety.” She reminded the president that his role “is to protect the country, not to actively threaten it and encourage attacks on American lives” and she addressed Angelenos by saying that “in the face of irresponsible threats… we know how to stand together and protect our city.” In her campaign account, Bass provided a more visceral response, stating simply, “Keep LA out of your damn mouth” in a quote tweet of a clip of Trump’s statements.
A couple more things… Memo Torres of LA Taco says there has been a spike in ICE raids. And Nithya Raman’s campaign appears to have deleted a video in which she joins the host in saying, “only you can stop fascist liars.” In the video, Raman is shown answering a question about what can be done to “de-fascistize” the LAPD, especially when it comes to immigrants. She says in the video that she believes that there should be a “culture shift” in the department and she also says she does not think LAPD chief Jim McDonnell has met the moment.
