Future of homeless services in LA still up-in-the-air, The LA Reporter’s breakdown of aborted meeting to decide who’s in charge homeless services, NBC4/Telemundo host LA mayor debate, and more.
Thank you incredibly for this detailed report for particularly about everything having to do with the entire homeless circus. I'm incredibly saddened Elizabeth at the jockeying from Karen Bess that ruined even my participation in last week's meeting by Zoom. But it is simply Iconic that somebody who is homeless has absolutely no voice, and the primary reason for that are people in the LA City Government not the County. And of course I live in CD 11 where a homeless person is not only person non grata but is actively removed by any means possible. All of this is incredibly disheartening. But I thank you for keeping me up to date because I had missed some items and you and the LA Reporter have certainly brought me up to date.
Hoping to keep an eye on the next meetings. The re-do of the meeting they did on Tuesday was not a controversial vote. LA County was the only one who applied for the “collaborative applicant” role, which is the one that applies for funding with HUD. That entails also doing the homeless count, which is part of that application for money. The more contentious items are supposed to be taken up later, based on what LA CoC co-chair Ben Kay said yesterday.
